This is a key operational position dedicated to the efficient handling of the airport’s Rescue and Firefighting Services (RFFS) vehicles, ensuring prompt emergency responses and safeguarding both lives and infrastructure.

Role Summary

As a Driver Operator, you will be entrusted with the safe and proficient operation of specialized RFFS firefighting vehicles during real-life incidents as well as training scenarios. Reporting directly to the vehicle crew commander, your mission will be to swiftly transport firefighting teams to emergency locations and promptly deliver firefighting resources when required. This role calls for discipline, readiness, and the ability to maintain peak performance at all times.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate firefighting vehicles with precision during both critical and routine operations.
• Execute instructions from the shift leader or crew commander to safeguard people, property, and assets.
• Monitor and maintain the firefighting agent supply within all assigned vehicles.
• Carry out thorough daily checks to confirm vehicle readiness.
• Perform equipment and inventory inspections at the start of every shift or during vehicle handovers, immediately reporting any irregularities.
• Document and report vehicle issues in compliance with RFFS and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) regulations.
• Participate in regular drills and training simulations to maintain operational excellence.
• Communicate clearly and accurately in line with General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) requirements.
• Keep up with medical fitness standards set by GCAA Civil Aviation Regulation (CAR) Part XI.Mandatory Qualifications

• Demonstrated capability in operating firefighting vehicles.
• Accredited training and professional experience in RFFS vehicle operations and firefighting.
• Completion of the RFFS Driver Operator Structured Learning Program (SLP).
• FIA ADP Level 2 Certification.
• A valid FIA Radiotelephony Certification.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
